Tiny underdeveloped leftbrain, apparently

I did that Mindmedia quiz - http://mindmedia.com/brainworks/profiler

I confess, I didn't really understand a lot of the questions, so I filled them in randomly, trusting to luck. (I've found this a very successful technique with multiple choice exams, as I have the Multiple Choice Lucky.)
-------------------
And I got:
Auditory : 40%
Visual : 60%
Left : 38%
Right : 61%
-------------------

What the hell does that mean, I thought. How does it know how I react to 'auditory' when there was no noise in the quiz? In fact, Eh??? and what way round is this brain thing?

So, then the googling of the rightbrain.

This produced more quizzes. Excellent!

http://www.blogthings.com/areyourightorleftbrainedquiz/ thinks I am 30% Left Brained, 70% Right Brained:
-------------------
"The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports."
-------------------

This is clearly total bollocks. I am excellent at persuading people to do stuff. (I don't know if they do it out of terror or because they are convinced, or just because they want me to go away, but generally, I find people quite obedient as a species).

I am legendarily terrible at maths, but notably fond of dogs. 70% of my brain prefers sports??? Prefers it to what, forcible extraction of the fingernails? In that case 70% of my brain is asleep and has been for the last 37 years (actually that would explain a lot...) And although I would love to think that 70% of my brain had a talent for art, it would be more accurate to say that 70% of it enjoys playing with Plastacine.

Enjoyment/desire and talent - surely, tragically, not *at all* the same thing (see X Factor Tv show...)

What does http://www.similarminds.com/cgi-bin/brain.pl think?
-------------------
"Right Brain |||||||||||| 50%
Left Brain |||||||||| 38%
*results won't usually add up to 100% as this test measures each side seperately

"Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.

Right brain dominant individuals are more visual and intuitive. They are better at summarizing multiple points, picking up on what's not said, visualizing things, and making things up. They can lack attention to detail, directness, organization, and the ability to explain their ideas verbally, leaving them unable to communicate effectively.

Overall you appear to be Right Brain Dominant"
-------------------

Again, confusion there. Who doesn't feel 'lost when things are not clear?' Well, some things, anyway. If the way to your destination is unclear, you are lost, that's kind of the point!

From the fact that I am totally baffled by or wish to choose both options on most of the questions in this quiz, I'm guessing I am 'having trouble comprehending abstract concepts'. I definitely lack organisation, but if I lacked the ability to explain my ideas verbally, or lacked attention to detail, I'd be out of work.

More Quizzes! More Quizzes!
http://www.intelliscript.net/test_area/questionnaire/questionnaire.cgi?q=right_brain_left_brain_2
-------------------
Left Brain Dominance: 9
Right Brain Dominance: 12
-------------------

Aha! Intriguing! finally a quiz that actually asks what seem like the obvious questions: 'are you good at maths' and 'do you like to draw'. It still asks some silly questions though, such as "I have considered becoming a lawyer, journalist, or doctor" - Well of course I've *considered* them. The fact that I've considered these career paths doesn't mean I'd actually have any aptitude for them. Bah! (waves hand in Dogbert manner).

http://www.web-us.com/brain/braindominance.htm
-------------------
You responded as a right brained person to 12 questions, and you responded as a left brained person to 6 questions
-------------------
Well, no, actually I didn't. I mentally argued for the ability to choose both options on practically all the questions, then envisaged a random scenario for each and picked according to that. I could have come up with a scenario that would produce the other answer just as quickly. But didn't.

I would be inclined to think this rightbrain leftbrain thing may be a more scientific looking form of astrology, at least in its online quiz form, if it were not that all the buggers have come up with the same label for me. Bizarre. Maybe I am rightbrained. Or possibly I am just a Pisces...

Oh actually : http://www.bbc.co.uk/keyskills/extra/module1/2.shtml
Reckons I am equal-brained! Yay!

If there is one thing all these quizzes proves, it's that I really should be getting on with something else.
