I like the way you show Nerdanel's strength and warmth.
Poor Feanor so cold and huddled in the corner of his cell...
Your story--the one that shows the effect of confinement in isolation on him, I mean--made me sad.

Feanor being stuck in Mandos has bothered me intermittently for years. I'd LIKE to read it as just a happy afterlify sort of place, or at least somewhere where people just have to come to terms with their own issues - but the fact that they imprisoned Melkor there in chains, that Feanor is stuck there forever, and that the dead are unable to make anything, intrudes when I try to see it 100% that way. (Oh yes, and that story you wrote where Maedhros is basically a self-consuming ball of flame doesn't help much either!)

I mean, it's probably quite pleasant for some people - maybe Finwe enjoys a life of watching TV and visiting Miriel, maybe Aegnor just wants a REALLY long nap - but I just can't find a way to see it as rewarding for someone whose main pleasure in life seemed to be making things, and it's hard to imagine Feanor powerlessly watching the First Age and not being livid. Or enjoying existing under Mandos's control.

I just re-read 'Scouring of the Shire' for this thing I'm writing about Valinor after the war of the Ring, and Frodo's comments about Ted Sandyman and insisting that even hobbits who have really gone over to the enemy should not be killed seem highly relevant.
