Oh, go on then: 44 Qs

1. Do you like blue cheese?

YESyesyesyes.  ALL the blue cheese  I can't decide if I regret introducing Pp to the wonders of blue cheese.  On the one hand, if he buys blue cheese I can eat it :-)  However, if I buy blue cheese, he might eat it. >:-(

2. Have you ever smoked?
Once. My mother smoked when I was small, so obviously Small Bunn had to try it when she wasn't looking...

3. Do you own a gun?
No. Why would I need one...?
I can fire a rifle, because I went to the kind of bizarre private school that considers being able to shoot, march, and salute with a rifle to be a wise thing to make compulsory for ... I was going to write 'students' there but no. Let us be honest, we were not students, we were children.  Militarised children.  And that is very wrong.  I hated it. It was truly awful.  I wish I had stood up and said NO.

Although I admit that if I ever need to, for example, build a bridge using only rope and barrels, I probably have an advantage over most of my contemporaries.

4. What is your favourite flavour?
ONE favourite flavour? Just one??? Nope, really can't narrow it down.

5. Do you get nervous before doctor visits?
Yes but I never admit it.

6. What do you think of hot dogs?
I remember hot dog sausages rather fondly, as they remind me of my dissolute youth (slathered in loads of mustard). I don't tend to eat them now though. And I try (not always successfully) to only eat meat from animals that I know have been raised reasonably kindly, and hot dog sausages must surely be the essence of dodgily untraceable meat, so probably not. That said, I keep meaning to try Quorn hot dogs, which are made of some terrifying Science Fungus instead of meat. I believe Science Fungus (and mustard) to not have feelings, so that is OK.

7. Favourite Christmas movie?
I always feel that James Bond is somehow seasonal, but I can't narrow it down to a particular movie.

8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning?
Coffee with cream

9. Do you do push-ups?
I do not. I believe I probably would be unable to even if I wanted, but I do not intend to try.

10. What’s your favourite piece of jewelry?
My engagement ring. It has a very pretty dark red ruby and was made for me!

11. Favourite hobby?
Again with the 'favourite'. How am I supposed to choose between writing, drawing, walking, reading, woodcarving...?

12. Do you have A.D.D.?
I didn't know what this was, so I looked it up, and nonono a world of no.

13. What’s the one thing you hate about yourself?

I'd like to say 'the tendency to constantly replay stupid embarrassments from years past in my brain' but if I'm honest I actually hate the embarrassments way more than the tendency to replay them.

14. Middle name?
Frances Mary. I have a spare.

15. Name three thoughts right now?
Why is my thumb itching? Did I accidentally weed a nettle?
Henning-cat is soft and he is being good this evening and not bopping me with his big paws
I really should be writing one of the things I started, rather than answering 44 questions

16. Name 3 drinks you drink regularly.
Fizzy water
Licorice and Cinnamon Tea
COFFEE

17. Where's the question?
WHERE ISN'T THE QUESTION???

18. Current hate right now?
I try not to hate. Leads to suffering, and the Dark Side, I am authoritatively informed.

19. Favourite place to be?
Again with the favourites. Ummmm, perhaps the seaside, but I don't think I can narrow it down to a specific seaside. I mean, how do you rank, say, a Cornish clifftop against a sandy Devon beach, against an evening with fish and chips in some pleasant small town on an estuary?

20. How do you ring in the New Year?
Rather too often, by desperately working through it in terrible fear of January. If not that then SLEEP.

21. Where would you like to go?
Ooh. Umm. Although there is a part of me that goes 'It would be great to go HERE!' there is another part of me that goes 'but this would involve a lot of stress and tedious queuing in airports and possibly minor intestinal distress'. This is why I don't travel all that much. Maybeeeeeeeee... Norway. You can probably get to Norway without airports and I believe it is very pretty. Or I quite fancy going to Brittany, which I can definitely get to without flying, but I need to find a really good seasickness tablet for Pp first. And a very robust dogsitter who can cope with Rosie Roo.

22. Name three people who will complete this?
Well, philmophlegm, louisedennis and wellinghall just DID complete it, so from a certain viewpoint involving a minor timeslip, them.

23. Do you own slippers?
I had to think about this. N....no I don't think I currently own anything that is actually sold as a slipper.

24. What colour shirt are you wearing?
black, although it's a t-shirt. I don't tend to wear things that need ironing.

25. Do you like sleeping on satin sheets?
I don't know. I've never tried. However, my superpower is being able to sleep comfortably on almost anything, so probably yes.

26. Can you whistle?
Yes. I can whistle a tune, and I can whistle to the dogs. However, I try not to whistle much where I can be overheard, for unmuteable whistling is surely the most annoying of habits.

27. Favourite colour?
Turquoise (see, I do have a favourite something!)

28. Would you be a pirate?
No. It sounds uncomfortable and probably is generally way less fun than it looks in movies.

29. What songs do you sing in the shower?
I have been known to sing Russian musical songs in the shower. Whether the words would be comprehensible to anyone who actually spoke Russian is another matter.

30. Favourite girls name?
Rachel. I have always liked the name Rachel.  It is vastly preferable to my name, which is Victoria, and always strikes me as overlong and ornate (but I dislike 'Vicky' even more because that rhymes with 'icky' and 'sticky' and 'tricky'.  There are no really good words that end with 'icky'. ).

31. Favourite boys name?
Plegmund.  How could anyone dislike someone called Plegmund?  It is the most likeable of names.

32. What’s in your pocket right now?
I am pocketless.

33. Last person that made you laugh?
Yama Bungle.

34. Best toy as a child?
Best? Best? Maybe the house for my toy cats that my dad made out of a teachest.

35. Worst injury?
Probably the time I cut my leg on a piece of rusty metal on the beach when I was small.

36. Where would you love to live?
Somewhere devoid of both neighbours and hedges.

37. How many TVs do you have in your house?
Um.  Two, I think.  But only one that I actually watch.

38. Who is your loudest friend?
I have no idea.

39. How many dogs do you have?
Two!

40. Does someone trust you?
I don't know. Frankly, I don't trust me.

41. What's your favourite movie?
Favourite...? Oh, I don't know. Probably something terrible with a lot of explosions. Or maybe The Two Towers. I do like the siege of the Hornburg with all the stompy orcs in the rain and the children of Rohan being tragically armed.  See above for my feelings on armed children in general, but I suppose if there is literally no choice but to fight for your life I probably would prefer to be have a sword to fight with.  See also Eowyn.

42. What’s your favourite sweet?
Licorice

43. What’s your favourite sports team?
I definitely don't have one of those.

44. What song do you want played at your funeral?
I feel that sort of decision should really be down to someone who will actually be able to hear it.

Norway is indeed very pretty.
I would do one of these but I do not have favourite colours, books, movies, places, I never had them and would have to put "don't have one" for about half of the questions.

I probably heard a life's worth of Russian songs here by now but it will take a lot more to get me sing any of them in the shower ).

These things always seem to focus on 'favourites' but like you I find it hard to narrow down such wide classes of things to only one preference!

You can indeed get to Norway without airports, although the ferry from Newcastle to Bergen doesn't run any more.

I don't mind small airports - even up to the size of Bristol. But the Heathrow or Gatwick type mega-airport is just so vast and horrible!

I know :-(

(And my idea of a "small" airport has changed since using Kirkwall ... and then changed further since using Westray, Papa Westray and North Ronaldsay ... )

I think the smallest I've flown to is Akureyri, and that seemed a little too close to a bus station somehow. Plymouth airport was delightful : big enough to have a nice comfy cafe and all mod cons, small enough that you could turn up half an hour before the flight and park where you could see the plane.

Tragically, it turns out that an optimally-sized airport within an easy drive of other slightly larger airports is rather vulnerable... a problem N Ronaldsay is unlikely to have, I guess!

I once saw an advert for a taxi firm that said they would drive to any UK airport, and wondered if they really did mean "any" ...
