We Went To See the Squirrel

Sometimes it seems like a good idea to go into town for a walk for a change.  Rosie likes these walks.  They are exciting, even though they aren't allowed off the lead.

The squirrels of Tavistock are many, fat and fearless.   The park is full of lime trees and at the moment they are in bloom, filling the park with scent and the sound of happy bees.

I like the way you can see what Brythen's thinking through the back of his head :-)

You are right! I was watching Rosie, who was just standing and quivering so the explosion took me by surprise, but looking at it again, looks like it was actually Brythen that took the decision to GO this time. :-D

Oh, the anticipation of running after a squirrel!

These are particularly exciting because they are fat and slow and spend lots of time on the ground, since they have clearly learned that dogs are always onlead here.

The entertainment value of squirrels is clearly high!

Squirrels are beloved above all things. I can call Brythen off a rabbit, and he only looks at strange cats, but squirrels? Squirrels are the one thing that cannot be resisted. I think it's the way they flirt their tails. :-D

Squirrels are the tarts of the animal world. My father's first Dobie could not resist a squirrel, but they were usually fast enough to get to a tree before he could get to them...usually. There were a couple local ones missing some fur from the ends of their tails, though...
