I FIXTED IT!

I bought a new screen for my knackered Kindle on Ebay and replaced it myself. And it all works, and I only had one screw left over!

I FEEL SO ACCOMPLISHED.

And now I don't have to make a decision about buying a replacement for it. But I do need a new 00 screwdriver head because all the tiny tiny screws knackered mine.

...and I only had one screw left over

It's not a proper repair job unless there are some mysterious spare parts left at the end :)

I still have a remarkable selection of bits left over from various repairs to my previous laptop, none of proved to be in any way necessary to its operation.

The thing that finally slew that was the one bit that HAD no changeable parts that could be swapped, but just crumbled away.

Count me as one who is very impressed.

I'm very much enjoying your posts about the mines, BTW. Just haven't had my act together enough to comment.

Oh good! I'm enjoying posting them more than I expected. I'm not normally a big one for recent social/industrial history, but I'm finding it's more interesting if you are assembling the story to retell as a blog.

What this post needs is a photograph of the tiny screw. But you might need a really, really macro lens for that!
