Eagle RBB Art Post : Mists and Shadows

Rashly, I signed up to the eagle_rbb as both an artist and a writer, and made a painting in acrylics that I hoped would inspire someone to write something interesting.  jain took my prompt and wrote this story, all filled with atmospheric mists.
I wish I'd had a bit more time to make pictures for it, but I did manage...

Here's the banner :

This was created from this original painting :

nd then, for no readily-apparent reason, I decided to venture into pastels to add some further images:

They are a little scribbly, but I am quite pleased with them in a scribbly sort of way!

I'm feeling rather guilty that I haven't had time to read any of the RBBs apart from the ones where I am writer or artist yet - but I will get to them eventually!

Lovely. The "scribble" gives them a flowing quality that goes with the mists.

I am trying to catch up with Eagle fic, and have discovered that there is quite a lot I've missed out on this summer. Enjoying working through the exchange fics, and looking forward to more of the RBBs.

I'm glad you liked the scribble!

I must find time to have a concentrated rummage through recent stories: I'm sure I've missed all sorts of things.

Mists and Shadows (Marcus/Esca, G)
User jain referenced to your post from Mists and Shadows (Marcus/Esca, G) saying: [...] Art Link: Art Master Post [...]

Ox! Ox!
Admittedly, you can't really see because he is small due to being far away. :-D

Glad you thought the swirly lines worked!

Beautifully done, eerie and atmospheric at the same time, with lovely coloration.

Thank you!

These are all beautiful! I don't think I've mentioned yet how much I like the landscape in the original painting. One of the things that appealed to me right away was how small and vulnerable Marcus and Esca looked in the middle of those hills with their tangled brush, and overshadowed by the giant ghostly hound.

I also love how eerily stylized the hound looks in all three pictures, and how you emphasized its misty, supernatural nature. And its huge black eyes in the second picture are legit terrifying; I totally understand why Esca would find it so disconcerting. :-)

I really like the touches of color around Esca in the second picture--the glow of his lamp and his colored cloak--and how that contrasts with the shadowy hound. It definitely draws the eye to Esca first, and then the realization that there's something else in the picture staring at him comes creeping in afterwards.

And I like the very obvious sense of motion and urgency in the third picture. It's incredible how clearly that comes through when all you can see of the two figures is their silhouettes. Thanks again for the additional illustrations--they're a wonderful accompaniment to the story--and for creating such an inspirational original picture!

I'm really pleased you were attracted to the first painting, the story definitely captures that feeling of a huge landscape with people moving slowly across it (bit like the movie really)

These are really quite wonderful. Scribbly? You're too modest. All of them are very evocative.

Well, they were done rather quickly! Thank you, I'm glad you thought they had something. Always find it terribly hard to tell if a drawing is any good until I find it sitting in a heap of paper six months on. :-D

These are beautiful. I think the last one is my favorite, though!

That was the quickest to do of the lot, but for some reason came together really quickly. Sometimes I think I should just scrap anything that isn't looking promising 10 minutes in :-D

Very nice work. I love the second one!

Thank you! I think that one is my favorite too.

I love the atmosphere of these--so evocative. And the ghost hound's curves and swirls remind me of Esca's line from the book about the curves and circles of his world.

I think these are my favorite pieces I've seen you do so far--they're so atmospheric and swirly, and the ghost hound feels very Celtic-essence-of-hound-y.
