Garden update

Much of the area I had cleared earlier in the spring has been taken over by nettles, so I have just been out strimming enthusiastically.  I have piled an old cotton rug, 2 large cardboard boxes (flattened) onto it, and on top of that, some lawn mowings. With a bit of luck that will discourage them a bit.

Apparently chimpanzees love eating nettles.

This comment cries out for the response: where can we get some chimpanzees? But as I am pretty sure that chimps would be even more destructive than, say, goats in a garden, I shall not say it. :-P

Chimps? *I* like eating nettles - although the only thing I've tried so far is mixing them into home made hash browns.

Uuuurgh.

I like fruit and veg, but if there is one plant that is a Plant Too Far for me, it is the nettle. I made nettle soup once. It had all the nicest ingredients, apart from the nettles - so I am pretty sure what was responsible for it being the most horrible soup ever to be created. It was truly vile.

Yeah, but I bet you have to get rid of the stinginess first. Apparently chimps can eat them raw.

There's a nettle-eating contest each year - somewhere in your part of the world, IIRC.

There are no zones with different rules in Moscow, but still it was impossible to guess in spring what was or wasn't allowed to do; and now the situation is only a little better. Seems it happens in…

My sourdough also isn't big on the doubling in size - and it does make good bread. I think you can probably give bread a go.

I'm not sure whether we were in Tier 1 or 2 at that point...

LOL. Yeah, I've given up all hope of making sense of these shifty weird rules.

    Love all the waterside encounters!

Wow! We get huge aircraft carriers in Brooklyn occasionally but I have never shared the water with one.
